Way down at the end of Victoria Harbour in Docklands, off the beaten track, there is a 1903 Australian-built wooden tall ship being restored back to sailing condition in order to deliver life-changing Youth Sail training programs.

You will be in awe of the labour-intensive and skilled craftsmanship of shipwrights and talented volunteers working together to return a historical tall ship back to sailing conditions. Learn how the Alma Doepel is being transformed into a vessel capable of meeting today's high Maritime Safety standards.

The Alma Doepel has an interesting story to tell of her service to the Australian Army during WWII as Army Ketch AK82.  Alma underwent a transformation from cargo carrier to troop and supply transporter in the Pacific Islands conflict.

Today Alma is undergoing a final fitout as she prepares for her latest role providing the youth of today a life-changing experience learning to sail a traditional tall ship in Victorian waters.
